Spring-Summer wish list | Chile Fashion

3 oct 2013

Trying to adapt myself on having two summers in one year, I decided to make a wish list! And well, who doesn't love making wish lists? Lucky for you, I don't have a lot of space to show everything I want, so I made this little list with the things I think are going to be my essentials.

Please remember (or if you are new here) I'm living at Chile. So here we are, changing season to from Fall-Winter to Spring-Summer, that's why I'm wearing skirts and I want more.
First of all I made a promise to myself and I'm going to start wearing colorful clothes, I realized I'm always wearing the same color palette, and even though I like it, I do want to try something new. New city, new wardrobe.
Also I want to be a little bit bolder with my jeans and also I need to incorporate more in my closet because now I own a bike and I'll be moving to go to work on it.
And well, I'm going to get here the basics I never had in my cit: shorts, military green jacket, new to-go boots and my new obsession, graphic tees. There are also some trends I would like to try like: Crop tops and skater skirts. What do you think? I made my biggest effort, but I don think this list still looks a little bit fall-ish...
This season is going to be fun and a nice challenge!

Plaids Trend | Fashion

24 ago 2013

Plaid certainly isn’t a new trend for the season. It comes back into style every year. Honestly I'm not sure since when I started liking plaids, but now I'm loving the effortless details plaid add to the outfits and I can't wait to get one top.

I love the mix with leather and bold metallic accents, I believe everyone needs a plaid shirt as the new denim top for this next season. I find amazing the combination of a plaid skirt with a denim top and well, it can't get any more simple than tying your favorite plaid shirt around your waist! Or as a oversize piece to give grunge touch to your look.

Stripes Trend | Fashion

10 ago 2013

While the north hemisphere is getting ready to welcome the trends for the fall-winter season (Which I have to admit are always my favorites), I'm already living in a very deep winter.
Thought I didn't wanted to miss the strips trend, which has been strongly present this year. At first I tough it wouldn't last, but as te months passed by, it only got stronger and stronger.

From horizontal, vertical, thin, thick, black and white or in living color, stripes is one of the most stable trends I can name from the first half of 2013. I'm wondering if they will continue existing next season and also I'm really expecting them to came down to the south hemisphere next summer-spring season.
Since they appeared this year with the "BeetleJuice Pants" I fell secretly in love with the trend, then I started seeing some circle skirts (Which is another trend I really want to talk about), some tops and even in jackets I knew they were going to stay with us for a long time.
We all know that the marine style has always been in our closets, for that emergency day. Stripes make a graphic statement, day or night, the secret is to create an hourglass shape. You can pair stripes with solid-colored pieces that focus attention on your one statement piece, and in a second you will have an amazingly chic look, or you can add a little bit of dark and leather to create a very rocker effortless look.

Gold belt | Fashion

6 jul 2013

Apparently one of mi biggest obsessions are golden touches in my outfits, and when I started looking this kind of belts at the runways and then at lookbook and Chictopia I fell in love and I started looking for one (or more) for me. You can mix this amazing accessory with many outfits like long and short dresses, pants or skirts, and it instantly adds sophistication and glamour to your outfit.

You can find those like solid gold or wider woven. It is an accessory that makes our look excel and stop being a simple coordinated, giving it some sophistication and glamor and glitter, keeping our outfit clean and simple. One tip, when you wear a gold belt you must wear minimal accessories and they must be in the shade of the belt. That will add an amazing style to your outfit.

Elie Saab Couture | Fashion

5 jul 2013

Oh my God, I don't understad how, but Elie Saab did it again! I just can't get tired of his designs. I am so obsessed with the emerald green part of the collection, I believe is a great bet and a gorgeous tone for autumn and I don't even know what to say about the red one, totally stunning. Even though his style is well defined and you can recognize his dresses at anytime, none of them look the same, and that's what I think is the most difficult part to achieve as a designer. Year by year I've fallen in love with his Couture line and year by I still say "this man is a genius".

The dominating colors are blue, emerald green, deep red and nude. Applications never fail and the work pieces are extraordinary, as well as all the work with fabrics and enforcement of these magnificent pieces. The dresses were perfect, the models were perfect, the stylist was perfect, even the environment of the runway was amazing.

For me is quite impossible to choose just one, the applications are absolutely wonderful, beautifully crafted and overall they are perfect. Scroll down and fall in love with Couture

LWD | Fashion

20 jun 2013

We all know about the importance of the LBD (Little Black Dress) and how every woman needs one in her closet, but this season fashion have made a new basic for us, the Little White Dress. I believe it is as important, basic and chic as the LBD, you can use it at day, at night, in a wedding or for a coffee with your friends.

The versatility of this pieces are based in their color. You can get a dress with a simple cut and give it the twist you want by adding accessories, choosing the right type of shoes and of course with an adequate hair and make up.
My favorite way to coordinate the LBD is definitely with gold, but when it comes to the LWD I love how it looks with neutral colors.

Pencil Skirt | Fashion

30 may 2013

Nothing is sexier than a pair of legs in heels walking down the street, and for this, the fashion world brought skirts. This season, mini skirts remain safely stored in our closets to give permission for our body to be shaped by the 'H Line', thanks to the pencil skirts.

Personally, I find pencil skirts sexier than mini skirts. They frame the waist, enhance the hips and allows us to achieve a balanced structure with our shoulders, adding a touch of mystery and elegance to our look.

This season, pencil skirt returns renewed and with more versatility than ever. The streets are starting to see the new proposals of this amazing piece; from Baroque finishes, lace, color block or even leather. With them, you can achieve thousands of looks: from minimalist-chic with a crop top, to a more relaxed style combining it with a sweatshirt or the classic-executive look with a blazer.

This Skirt is back as equally sensual and elegant as ever, resuming its position as an essential item in any woman's closet. So, what do you say? Do you have your own already?, it is time to think about your style and the thousands of combinations and occasions in which this wonderful piece can be part of your summer.

MET Gala 2013 | Fashion

10 may 2013

Here are my favorites from the night, I have a weakness for puffy and princess-alike dresses, I just love every opportunity to dress up like a princess, I mean, you can always dress up, you can always look fabulous, but the opportunities to actually wear a fancy dress are really short.

Like the at the Oscars the second most important thing of the night of the MET Gala is the Red Carpet. This year I don't have any idea of what the stylists were thinking, it was really difficult to me to find something I like. This was a crazy year for the MET Gala. I have to be honest since I know about it, attending to the MET Gala and walk that Red Carpet is one of my dreams, hopefully I will be able to do that one day.

Saint Laurent | Fashion

20 abr 2013

Since "Yves Saint Laurent" changed its name few months ago we all knew a big change was coming, I have to be honest I thought it wasn't going to be good for the brand, but I have to admit I feel in love with this campaign. Even though I don't really understand it very well, I have no clue of the new path for Saint Laurent Paris.

The new face for the man's campaign is a girl, Saskia de Brauw, can you believe it? I didn't even knew 'he' was a 'she'. Is an amazing shoot! As Laura from The Creative Shoot said "Good girls gone bad".

The sweet and posh image is gone. To promote the brand they have done The Music Project a photo set with punk and grunge stars such as Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love and Kim Gordon, and the most shocking for me, Daft Punk. When I saw the photos I though it was from their new single or something like that, but the I felt the editorial touch and started digging, and yes, the photos where from this amazing project. I can't really tell what Saint Laurent is becoming, but I think they are good, being a little risky and rocker, even if the people in the shoots are adults the whole campaign feels full of youth and fun. With the perfect touch of classic and chic.

What do you think about this campaign, did you like it? The change have been huge, I really want to see more of the new Saint Laurent!

Les Misérables | Fashion

8 mar 2013

Well I know "The Mis" are a old story by now, but I didn't wanted to post this without watching the film. Finally they played it in my country and I went to watch it.

Besides Best Movie and Best Production, Les Misérables was nominated for Best Costume Design. Paco Delgado is the regular costume designer for Pedro Almodóvar and Alez de la Iglesia's work, and this time he made the costume another character in the story; He didn't thought about the clothes as 1800's costumes, he wanted real clothes so he got inspired by two of the most wonderful artist in from that century: Eugène Delacroix and Francisco de Goya, so, in that way he was able to recreate 30 years of history and social hierarchies in clothes.

They used 2,200 costumes that here made at France, Spain, Italy and England. Once they had the costumes the next step was wreck them so in that way they will fit with the miserable life of the people. I was amazed by the feeling of the costumes, and well, being a Gossip Girl fan you get use to look at those details, how the color of the clothes is changing trough the character's life and of course how clothes can help the viewer to know from which social hierarchies are the characters. If you look carefully, you can realize the french flag all over the movie, you can see how the clothes change along the suffer and the life style of the characters.

Golden Globes 2013 | Fashion

16 ene 2013

This are my favorites from this year's golden globes. As you can see I have a weakness for light colors and glitter. My favorite one is from Michael Kors, I love the elegant silhouettes and the edgy color, then is that amazing Monique Lhuiller if I had to choose one for me, defenitely I would use that one, the top details are breath-taking and the skirt is amazingly chic. And of course Elie Saab is in my top 3! I just can't get enough from that firm, they adore women's body and femininity is their main goal.

This year I skipped the awards and only watched the Red Carpet, and I couldn't see a lot of princess-alike dresses and that make me very sad because I love them and I was hating everything, but I ended falling in love with this amazing straight loose-skirt, this type of skirt is really flattering and very versatile. The color palette this year was very safe and quite boring for me and at the end I realized almost every dress has glitter or something gold.

FW2012 Obsessions (1) | Fashion

15 dic 2012

I've never been a trend follower, I just wear what I like, what I can afford and what fits me right. But it doesn't mean I can't be obsessed with some of the biggest trends out there, and well, being this my favorite season I find everything adorable and comfortable, I just want winter to last for ever.

I am a shoe lover, but it's really hard for me to find cute shoes without heel, I don't like flats neither tenis, so for fall/winter boots were my only option but this year I finally find 'flats' shoes that are flattering, chic and cute. Most people who wear loafers -myself included- will tell you that loafers are their favorite and most comfortable shoes. The versatility of loafers is another reason for their popularity, they can be worn with dressy pants or jeans even with dresses. They are equally suited for a party, office or a trip to the grocery store.

Leather isn't just for jackets, bags or boots anymore. Since the 'biker jacket' made its apparence I fell in love, but a leather jacket is not enough. This season leather skirts, vests and trousers are definitely a must, I love the 'rude' touch you can add to your outfit, also is perfect for the chill-street style, but what I love the most is that it still looks cute and a bit dressy. It is a luxurious material and looks good by itself.

The varsity jacket lives its second life in the streets, I think is quite hard to combine it without losing style and femininity, but is not impossible. The varsity jacket is totally versatile, you can use it with some jeans, dressy pants, a skirt or a girly dress, it only depends on your style and the way you want it to look. The opposites attract theory plays out perfectly with this trend, also it is very confortable, warm and way chic. There are so many styles, colors and shapes out there, I am sure you will find the perfect one for you!

Now tell me, which trend is your favorite right now?

Innovamoda 2012 | Fashion

4 nov 2012

Pictures by Andrea Balcazar for Green's life diary.

After almost 8 years expecting an international fashion event in my city, thanks to Tijuana Innovadora, Tijuana had the opportunity to present an high class-fashion event, full of beautiful international models, amazing hair and make up crew and 4 mexican fashion designers. Two of them have already an international name: Ximena Valero and Luis Verdad, and the two promises: Daniela Villa, and the runner up from Elle Mexico Diseña 2012 Emedel García which I have to say it's amazing.
More than a thousand persons were part of the first international event produced in Tijuana, with beautiful lights and music, Innovamoda presented an event full of glamour and fashion. Elle Mexico, Vitamin Water, Heineken and L.A. Cetto helped to make Innovamoda an amazing event. Being part of an event like this really helped me to grow up as a person and in some professional way. Of course I am in total love of this event and I can't find 'bad stuff' about it. I didn't have time to actually watch the show so my opinion about the outfits, the hair and make up and about the show is really vain.

The looks I posted are my favorites from every designer, and I have to admit I fell in love of the accessories from Daniela Villa, it is a new SD's brand: ZIUR Designs. I really attempted to make a post about each designer, but then I realized I didn't even pay enough attention to the music, the style or the atmosphere in each runway... Hopefully I will learn how to work-and-blog at the same time because I'm sure I'll be doing this alot!

Don't forget to participate in the Ninetyone Giveaway!

Anna Dello Russo for H&M | Fashion

16 sept 2012

Everybody is talking about it, and how can we blame them? The new accessories collection from H&M ft. ADR is amazing! This is a collection where excess is the norm, with gold and turquoise as protagonists. Necklaces, bracelets, belts, earrings, handbags, luggage, shoes, etc, All with one thing in common: Animal forms.

As for the shoes, the same "more is not enough." Golden Boots, sandals with rhinestones and dominatrix style boots. Shortly usable, unless you work for Gogo or have a wardrobe really risky as the same ADR. The collection is really her... That's for sure and some of the pieces have a certain charm, but the best part is that the prices are typical of H&M, so they are very accessible. 'I wanted to re-create the excitement of the fashion week tour, when you enter a dreamy fashion bubble that is almost a parallel reality. I tried to capture that sense of freedom, joy and excitement.' All the pieces were inspired by New York Fashion Week, and ADR's style as well.

She explains, 'Accessories are like vitamins to fashion — as such, you should use them liberally.' I fell in love with the hole collection and I'll definitely buy one of those amazing sunglasses! But honestly I wouldn't use everything. Did you like the collection? Do you have a fav piece?
